Health bosses say making sure everyone is double jabbed is the key to driving down case numbers.
After racing to an all time high last week the COVID infection rate in the Scarborough Borough fell back a bit over the weekend.
The seven day rate per 100,000 people reached 655 in the borough last week and although it has now fallen it remains very high at 452
North Yorkshire's director of health and adult services, Richard Webb says the high infection rates are likely to be with for some time.
Meanwhile the drive to get people vaccinated against COVID in the Scarborough Borough is not yet over.
Health leaders in the the county say with COVID infection rates reaching an all time high in the borough last week it's essential to make sure everyone gets both doses of a vaccine.
Richard Webb, says they are particularly concerned about younger adults.
Vaccination rates in Scarborough do remain well above the national average with more than three quarters of eligible people in the borough having had both doses of a vaccine.
More than 73,000 people in the borough have now had both jabs, meaning that 77.1% of the adult population are covered by the vaccine.
With vaccines now open to anyone aged 18 years and over the number of first doses given out in Scarborough has climbed to 82,458, 86.5% of the population.
Across England as a whole just 62.5% of people have had both doses of the vaccine and 781.% have had one.
In Yorkshire and the Humber 65.2% of residents are fully vaccinated.
