Lynn Shaw takes over as Chair of the Lifeboat Management Group
The current Volunteer Treasurer with the RNLI in Bridlington has become the new Chair of the Lifeboat Management Group as of 7 April 2023.
Lynn Shaw has just begun a four-year stint to co-ordinate the activities of the Lifeboat Management Group, whilst still continuing as Treasurer for the Station.
Lynn, who moved to Bridlington at the end of 2020 takes over from Dave Garnett, who performed the role for 5 years, said,
‘I am delighted and honoured to become Chair at Bridlington Lifeboat Station. As a child, I spent all my holidays at Bridlington and it seems fitting that I can give my time back to the coastal town that meant so much to me when I was growing up’.
With a background in multi-site retailing and a career that’s taken Lynn all around the UK, Ireland and Denmark, she sees it as a great opportunity to apply her knowledge and work experience to a charity renown for Saving Lives at Sea.
Lynn will be responsible for providing local leadership to ensure that all functions of the local station are co-ordinated, information shared, and to develop a joint approach in representing the activities of the RNLI to the local community.
With next year's 200th Anniversary of the RNLI looming large, Lynn will also be leading the local Volunteer Team in ensuring that all the RNLI 200 initiatives have a high profile in Bridlington.
