Scarborough’s recently formed town council is set to adopt a new official emblem for the body.
An official emblem and logo is set to be adopted by Scarborough Town Council which was created in April and held its first meeting in May following the election of 15 unpaid councillors.
The Reform-led authority was due to hold its next full meeting at 7pm on Wednesday, November 19, when a motion proposing the logo’s approval was to be discussed. That meeting has been postponed due to safety concers relating to the Amber weather warning in place for the Scarborough area.
Coun Sarah Mason, a Reform town councillor for the Woodlands division, has designed the emblem, according to a report prepared for the meeting.
It states: “Coun Mason has confirmed in writing that the emblem has been transferred to the town council’s ownership free of charge, without any restriction on its use and in perpetuity for as long as the town council wishes the emblem to represent the town council.”
Other agenda items at the meeting include motions on HMOs, support for Scarborough 400 celebrations, and the use of hotels and accommodation in the area.
The meeting will start with a public session allowing residents to make representations on issues or to pose questions to the town mayor and other councillors.
An update from unitary authority representatives has also been scheduled for Wednesday’s meeting, as well as information on the recent work of the Neighbourhood Board.
