New Housing Development in Withernsea

A development of 40 affordable homes has been launched by East Riding Council, in partnership with Gleeson Homes.

The homes will comprise a mix of two, three, and four-bedroom properties and will form part of the Sands Reach development in Withernsea.

Gleeson’s Sands Reach scheme, on Hollym Road consists of 199 homes, with the remaining 159 of which are being delivered as open market units. The development sees an 16.88-acre plot of disused land into housing.

The newly announced affordable housing scheme will provide 29 homes for social rent, ensuring affordability for those most in need, and 11 homes under Shared Ownership. A phased delivery of the homes is expected to begin in 2026, with completion anticipated by Summer 2028.

All properties will achieve high EPC ratings, ensuring energy efficiency and helping to reduce energy bills. This supports the council’s ambition to lower household costs and promote sustainability.

Cllr Michael Lee, East Riding of Yorkshire Council’s cabinet member for housing and infrastructure said:

“This is a great scheme to improve housing provision in Withernsea, and support residents in need. We look forward to welcoming the first occupants to their new homes, in due course.”

Andrew Davies, Gleeson Homes, Divisional Managing Director said:

“This partnership is about more than building houses; it’s about creating a place where people can put down roots and enjoy the benefits of coastal living. Working with East Riding Council ensures that these homes will make a real difference to local families.”
