Scarborough Borough Council says is not intending to become a housebuilder.
That's the message from the authority as it embarks on the next phase of it's better home project.
It hopes to help create hundreds of new affordable houses in the borough by entering in to a joint venture with a developer, but Councillor Liz Colling says the council itself wont be undertaking the work.
The council says the project to build affordable houses in the Scarborough Borough should be able to get underway as soon as a new joint venture company has been created.
The authority is currently looking for a partner organisation with building experience. Councillor Liz Colling says the project should be able to hit the ground running once the partner has been identified.
