Scarborough Athletic put in a terrific performance on a difficult night for football, to keep their promotion push going.
Manager Jono Greening praised his team for their "fabulous performance" as they beat in-form Blyth Spartans 1-0 away from home last night:
"To say they'd been at work all day and got in their cars at half 4 and drove 2 and a half hours up here, grabbing a sandwich on the way and to put in a performance like that was absolutely brilliant"
Boro's goal came just a couple of minutes before half time when a through ball from Luca Colville put Aiden Rutledge through:
Rutledge had an incredible opportunity to put Boro 2-0 up in the 2nd half when he rounded the keeper but somehow placed the ball the wrong side of the post from a few yards out.
Substitute Dom McHale also had a great opportunity, one on one with the keeper in the dying minutes, but the shot was saved.
Blyth put the Seadogs under pressure but the defence was magnificent from start to finish.
Scarborough remain 3rd with a 4-point cushion ahead of Chester in 4th.
Boro's next game is the long away trip to Banbury United on Saturday.
It's been a relentless match schedule in January with games every Tuesday and Saturday but the Seadogs have taken 23 from a possible 30 since the busy Christmas period.
