There is set to be a plaque unveiling in Bridlington today.
It's to honour a recipient of the George Medal after both Kenneth Cooke was rescued after his cargo ship 'Lulworth Hill' was sunk by an Italian submarine in 1943.
Fourteen survivors found themselves on a raft and another man was taken prisoner of war. Fifty days later Kenneth was found alive with HMS Rapid rescuing them.
The George Medal is awarded to people who have shown acts of bravery.
Richard Jones, who's leading the project to get the plaques, hopes that people will come together to commenerate the miracle rescue.
At 3pm at Bridlington Harbour the Kenneth Cooke plaque will be unveiled on the 80th anniversary of the rescue.
The plague has been paid for by the Bridlington Tourism Association
Jones says that it's been great to see local organisations help out with the idea.
Members of the public are welcome at the event.
