The Environment Agency have issued flood warnings for Sandside and Foreshore Road in Scarborough for this afternoon's high tide.
The Agency say Strong winds may result in large waves and spray and overtopping on the coast between 1pm and 7pm. Areas most at risk include properties on Sandside and properties on Foreshore Road from the roundabout to West Pier.
A Flood Alert is also in force for the North Sea coast from Whitby to Filey, including Scarborough. The Environment Agency say:
"The particular area of concern is Scarborough. The alert covers this afternoon’s tide between 1 pm and 7 pm. Strong winds may result in large waves and spray and overtopping on the coast. We will continue to monitor the forecast and re-issue this alert if necessary. Please stay away from beaches, promenades, coastal footpaths and roads. "
