Filey business woman, Kathryn Knowles, has been recognised for her work championing diversity and vulnerable customers

Kathryn, who is co-Managing Director of Filey based Cura, won the Outstanding Achievement award at the The Yorkshire Financial Awards 2022.

The ceremony last week saw 13 outstanding organisations and five professionals at the top of their games prevail across 19 categories.

Independent judging panel chair Jennifer Green, who is managing director of corporate communications at TheCityUK, said in the digital programme for the awards:

“The Yorkshire Financial Awards has very quickly become the benchmark for outstanding financial services across the county. It doesn’t just celebrate the firms that excel, but also the teams and individuals in them who work tirelessly to serve their customers and clients.”

“Against the backdrop of COVID and the significant challenges and uncertainty that has bought to businesses, communities and people across Yorkshire, the stories shared by the entrants to this year’s awards have been both inspirational and heart-warming. They not only demonstrated a real grit and determination to succeed through adversity, but also a commitment and passion to doing everything possible to serve and support customers through difficult times.”

Cura co-Managing Director Kathryn Knowles, was awarded the Outstanding Achievement Award on the night. The judges said:

“Kathryn’s genuine care for vulnerable customers is a particular highlight and worthy cause, made all the more impressive by operationalising this experience and expertise within Cura. Kathryn is becoming a go-to spokesperson and leading expert on championing diversity and for vulnerable customers.”

Kathryn says of her win:

“I am absolutely thrilled at winning this award. Our work is completely focused upon improving access to insurance and helping people that are vulnerable to have a fair chance of protecting themselves and their families. Winning a Yorkshire award feels brilliant, as I have always lived in this area and it feels great to be able to give back to the community.”
