The Yorkshire Coast Christmas tradition is back for 2023.
Entries are now open for this years Whitby Boxing Day dip.
The charity event is organised by Whitby Lions and has been taking place for 48 years.
Brian Harrison from the Lions says the event has grown a big following.
The annual festive fundraiser saw a record number of dippers take a plunge in the North Sea last year and raised over £3000.
Brian is hoping this year's event will be just as well supported.
The event attracts large numbers of spectators as well as dippers many of whom take the plunge in fancy dress. There are prizes awarded in various categories for the best dressed dippers.
Each dipper pays £10 to take part in the event with the money being distributed through the year to local good causes by the Lions.
In addition each dipper can also raise sponsorship money for a charity of their own choice.
This year's event will get underway from 10am on Boxing Day.
Registrations for this year's event are open now at https://whitbylionsclub.org.uk/boxing-day-dip/ with payments being taken online.
It is also possible to sign up for the event at at The Whitby Pet Shop,15 Station Square Whitby.
Brian says it will also be possible to sign up on Boxing day itself.
