East Riding Planning Applications Update

Proposals for nine new affordable houses are among planning applications currently under consideration at East Riding of Yorkshire Council.

The homes could soon be built on an “underutilised and vacant plot” in Burton Agnes.

The applications also include plans for a new egg production units and a pet crematorium. All the applications are currently under consideration by the council.

An application details plans to build a development of nine affordable homes at Burton Agnes. The homes would be built on St Martin’s Drive.

Plans indicate the development would include a mix of three, two, and one-bedroom dwellings. Submitted documents state: “Careful consideration has been given to the site layout to ensure the new dwellings respond to the existing grain and layout of neighbouring properties and their massing.”

Documents also explain that seven of the nine properties would be offered as Social Rent, and would be “primarily for residents with a connection to the Burton Agnes area and are on the housing needs list,” while the other two would be offered as Shared Ownership

Plans for the development of a free range egg production at Manorford Farm, Fangfoss are also consideration at the council. The application details plans for a site capable of housing 32,000 birds.

Plans say: “The unit has been designed in accordance with the requirements of the RSPCA Freedom Food scheme, ensuring high welfare standards, including outdoor ranging with tree cover and enriched internal environments.”

The application includes the erection of an on-site egg packing unit. A sustainable drainage system, an underground dirty water tank, and a plan for tree planting to support bird welfare, is also included in the application.

Finally, the council has received an application for the change of use of an agricultural barn in Portington. The application seeks to turn the building into a pet and animal crematorium.

The building in question is within the Portington Grange estate. The plans seek to convert the it into a mixed development including the pet crematorium and flexible working units.
