School age children and care homes are driving the high numbers it's believed.
COVID infection rates in the Scarborough Borough remain high with an seven day average infection rate of 509 cases for every 100 thousand people. That equates to around 79 new cases a day in the borough.
North Yorkshire Public Health Consultant, Doctor Victoria Turner, says most new cases are being seen in school age children and in care homes:
The number of cases across North Yorkshire has remained high since the end of September.
However, Dr Turner thinks the booster programme is now starting to have an effect on cases:
