The impact of the sudden closure of Scarborough's Alpamare Waterpark has been highlighted at a council meeting.
The plight of Scarborough's Alpamare Waterpark was raised at a meeting of North Yorkshire Council yesterday with Scarborough Councillor - Eric Broadbent - asking the council to do what it can to get it back open.
The water-park closed suddenly last month and entered administration still owing the council around £7.8m in loan payments.
Council Leader Car Les said the situation is legally complicated but did commit the council to doing "what it can".
Alpamare opened in Scarborough’s North Bay in 2016 with the help of a £9m bail-out loan from the now-defunct Scarborough Council and as of November last year, it still owed North Yorkshire Council £7.8m.
