Concerns have been voiced around the long-term future of the former Marine Residence hotel site in Scarborough.
The former hotel was seriously damaged by fire in July and is to be demolished.
Local councillor - Rich Maw - is concerned about what happens next to the site.
North Yorkshire Council leader, Councillor Carl les has said he will look at the situation.
The former Marine Residence Hotel was gutted by Fire in July which followed an earlier blaze in December 2022. Since the July blaze the road outside the hotel has remained closed due to concerns of the structural integrity of the remains.
Last month North Yorkshire Council revealed plans to demolish the former Hotel’s ‘dangerous’ building following the two fires saying that the building was “past the point of rescue”.
The hotel, which shut down in 2020, was called the Granville Lodge Hotel before being branded as the Marine Residence Hotel.
An expert report commissioned by the authority has concluded that the severity of the fire and the intense heat generated during the blaze mean that the building is not capable of being renovated or saved for the future.
The council has concluded that “full demolition is the only viable and safe option” for the Victorian property which was originally constructed as three large town houses in around 1875.
