Ebberston Cricket Club are holding a fundraising event this afternoon in memory of a former player.
The club are hosting two charity cricket matches in honour of David Hayward, who took his own life in December.
There will be live music, food and drink, face painting, an auction and a raffle throughout the afternoon with all money raised going to Councilling North Yorkshire and Andy's Man Club.
Club Captain and co-organiser Alex Machen hopes that the event will lead to more people speaking out about mental health.
The action gets underway at 11am, with an exhibition match before Ebberston Cricket Club take on a Scarborough Representative XI at 2pm.
Machen admits that it's going to be an emotional day for everyone involved.
Raffle tickets can be bought through the Ebberston Cricket Club Facebook page.
The club will also be auctioning off some memorabilia and holidays. The Auctions final bids will be at 3:30pm at the midpoint of the second match.
The auction items include:
- Item 1: Harry Brook’s signed Sunrisers Hyderabad shirt that he will deliver to us on his return to England!
- Item 2: 20 year old Finlay Bean’s shirt from his maiden first class ton signed by all the Yorkshire team (inc. Malan and Lyth)!
- Item 3: One for the locals and Seadog supporters! Scarborough Fc have kindly supplied us with a match shirt signed by the whole team!
- Item 4: 2 nights away at ‘Number 52’ a 6-berth caravan at Reighton Sands!
- Item 5: 2 night mid week stay at the Grange in Thornton Dale, king size room inc breakfast
