Cars "Floating" On Flooded Scalby Road In Scarborough

The A171 near Scarborough Hospital is flooded, with cars stranded, after early thundery downpours hit the coast.

We have received calls from concerned listeners who have seen cars stranded, with some vehicles attempting to drive through the deep flood water.

Vehichles coming from the hospital are faced with floodwater whichever way they turn onto Scalby Road.

Whilst some vehichles are stranded, others are still attempting to get through.

In Snainton, fire fighters are handing out sandbags to local residents:

We have since heard the A170 through Snainton is now CLOSED.

Julie called Paddy to say it was dangerous in the Newby area too:

Peasholm Roundabout in Scarborough is now beginning to flood as water pours down from the lake:

Iain reported Hackness Road at the junction of Moor Lane in Scarborough was impassable.

School Closures

Barrowcliff School INFANTS ONLY is CLOSED. Thta's Nursery and classes 1,2,3 and 4.
