A local councillor says public toilets in Robin Hood's Bay should remain open during the winter months.
There's a call for public toilets in Robin Hood's Bay to remain open until the new year.
The borough council facilities at Station Car Park have been closed for the winter but local councillor - Jane Mortimer - says they are still needed.
In an update to borough councillors this week the authority's cabinet member for neighbourhoods, Councillor Tony Randerson reported:
"We are continuing efforts to improve facilities across the network. We have completed works in St Nicholas Gardens, Staithes, Sandsend, Filey Foreshore, Whitby Marina and we are working on improvement plans for Peasholm, Cayton Bay, Castleton and South Cliff Gardens over the coming months. This month marks the start of our Winter opening times for the network, allowing us greater opportunity to complete works, while our quietest sites are closed and drained down for Winter."
Councillor Mortimer has welcomed a programme of upgrades to the borough council's toilets but says visitors are turning up at the station car park in Robin Hood's Bay to find the toilets are closed for the winter.
