Following three games in five days, Bridlington Town will enjoy a five-day break before their next game, hosting Ashington AFC on Saturday.
It was an extremely disappointing performance in their last game with an equally frustrating result, losing 1-0 to newly promoted Winterton Rangers.
Despite two excellent performances going into the game, they couldn’t stop Winterton picking up their first victory in their new division.
Injuries were another concern after the Winterton game. Skipper James Williamson was named in the starting line-up, but pulled out due to an ankle injury and it is unknown whether he will be back for the Ashington game.
Andy Norfolk was also subbed off just before half time having picked up a hamstring injury, which Adrian Costello has confirmed will keep him out for 4-6 weeks.
On a more positive note, Bridlington Town remained 14th despite the 1-0 loss, and it still being early in the Northern Premier League season, have a chance to move as high as 9th by Saturday evening.
Saturday’s visitors sit on 4 points, the same tally as Bridlington Town though they are placed one position above the Seasiders on goal difference.
Ashington are new to the Northern Premier League East Division. Having finished second in the Northern League, they won the Interstep playoff match 3-0 against Glossop North End to earn promotion to step four of non-league.
It was an eventful start to life in a new division, having drawn 4-4 at home to Brighouse Town on the opening day.
The Colliers also suffered a bank holiday Monday loss, being defeated 2-0 at home against Consett AFC. That came just 48 hours after their first league victory of the season, when they won 2-1 on the road to Stocksbridge Park Steels.
