Scarborough Athletic were held to a draw by the NPL Premier's third placed side Matlock Town, with both Bridlington Town and Whitby Town earning favourable results.
Boro extended their unbeaten run to 14 matches after a battling goal-less draw at the Flamingo Land Stadium.
On the day when Neil Warnock, the man who masterminded promotion for the old Scarborough FC club to the Football League and members of his successful 1986/87 squad attended the game, there were no goals to enjoy. There seemed far too much at stake, Jono Greening's men would have gone 3rd themselves with a win, but stay 4th following the stalemate.
Whitby Town made it back to back victories as they beat bottom club Grantham Town 2-0. Second half goals from Jacob Hazel and Lewis Hawkins keep the Blues two points behind the play-off places in an increasingly congested chasing pack.
Blues joint-manager Lee Bullock spoke to Whitby Town TV after the game:
Meanwhile, Bridlington Town earned a draw at title-chasing Liversedge in NPL East. The West Yorkshire side were top of the table going into the clash, but the draw enabled Marske United to overtake them at the summit. Brid stay fourth from bottom, with two definitely going down and a third relegated depending on comparing records with other clubs in equivalent divisions nationally. Lewis Dennison's early penalty had put Brett Agnew's men ahead but the hosts levelled in first half injury time.
