All four goals came in the space of 15 first-half minutes as Bridlington Town were pegged back at home again.
The Seasiders suffered another disappointing home defeat as Bishop Auckland claimed all three points at The Mounting Systems Stadium.
Bishop Auckland struck first in the 26th minute, with Paddy Almond stabbing home from a free kick that bounced across the face of goal. Bridlington responded quickly, and just four minutes later, Michael Coulson pounced on a loose header back to the keeper to level the score at 1–1.
However, the home side’s lead was short-lived. Bishop Auckland regained control in the 32nd minute from a free kick that Jonathan Dash tried to punch off the line only for it to end up in the back of the net, and five minutes later extended their advantage with a well-timed finish over the on rushing Dash after a through ball over the top broke the offside trap.
Bridlington continued to press and create chances, with a free kick from Coulson narrowly over the bar in the 42nd minute, and a long throw in first-half stoppage time rattling the crossbar. Despite these flashes of promise, the first half ended 1–3in favour of the visitors. The second half saw Bridlington push to get back into the game. Coulson’s header from a clever run in the 53rd minute was straight at the keeper, and a Bishop Auckland counter in the 62nd minute was brilliantly saved by Dash.
Later, in the 69th and 81st minutes, Bridlington came close again, hitting the bar and seeing a shot go just over, but a goal remained elusive. Despite small signs of attacking promise and some excellent saves from Dash, the Seasiders couldn’t find a way back, and Bishop Auckland held on for a 3–1 victory. Attention now turns to Tuesday night’s trip to Matlock, as Bridlington aim to bounce back in the league.
