Plans to build a new enclosed dog walking area and car park at Airy Hill Farm in Hunmanby have been officially approved by North Yorkshire Council.
A new dog walking area has been given the go-ahead near a North Yorkshire town following the approval of plans by the council.
James Pick’s proposal to build a dog walking area surrounded by an almost two-metre fence, as well as a car park in Hunmanby, Filey, has been approved by North Yorkshire Council.
The dog walking area at Airy Hill Farm in Hunmanby, Filey will be enclosed by a 1.8 metre high stock fence with the existing hawthorn hedge to the outside of the walking area. No external lighting will be installed.

A vehicle parking area will be constructed using a reinforcement system with grass infill, while access to the application site will be from the existing farm access from Filey Road.
No objections were made by members of the public or other consultees.
The Highway Authority said:
There are no concerns with the current access or with drainage at the site.
A suitable level of parking will be maintained within the site, including turning for vehicles, allowing them to enter and exit the highway in a forward gear.
Planning officers noted that the parking area will involve the installation of a permanent grass reinforcement mesh within the existing grassland area.
According to a report:
The submitted details state the grass reinforcement mesh would be a permeable cellular system laid at the existing ground level to protect the grass sward under vehicle loading.
It adds:
No new buildings, structures, impermeable hardstanding, ground raising, or alterations to existing land levels are proposed.
North Yorkshire Council concluded that the application site could easily be returned to agricultural use if required.
The land-take of the application is considered to be moderate, and whilst it would result in a loss of good to moderate agricultural land, it is not considered to result in sufficient harm as to warrant refusal.
The development was approved by NYC, subject to conditions.
