Filey's Americana Festival gets underway tonight.
The weekend event is the latest attempt to try and extend the tourist season and will see groups from around the world performing.
Chris Lee is one of the organisers he says the festival is bringing in visitors from across the country.
A raft of international musicians will be performing at the Evron centre this weekend as part of the Festival. Chris says the acts also include some local talent adding:
"we've actually got a local lad who was born in Filey, Richard Townend, who now lives in Essex with his band. He's coming all the way up to play, especially on Friday Night. He went to school in Scarborough. And then moved back down to Essex quite a long time ago, reformed the band.
And again, he's playing a one off gig tomorrow tonight. And then on Saturday we've got the brother brothers from America who sing like Everly Brothers and Simon & Garfunkle type music, close harmonies. We've had them on before, and that's pretty close to selling out.
And on the Sunday, we've got a band all the way from the Midlands called the Fred's House who play sort of Fleetwood Mac, West Coast Harmony type stuff with Elizabeth and Jameson supporting them, a duo from Cambridgeshire. And on the Monday night we've got Banjo Jen from Sheffield who's bringing her band over and that's more like Appalachian folk country, that sort of stuff."
The organisers hope the festival will help to extend the town's tourist season and bring visitors from around the UK
Chris Lee says Americana has a growing following.
