The pair are cycling 100 miles in a day this Sunday for St. Catherine's and Together For Short Lives.
Alan Priestley from Scarborough also turns 60 on Sunday, the day of the big ride. And after having two heart attacks around 11 years ago, he took up cycling to get and healthy with a dream of one day doing 100 miles in a day:
Alan is raising money for Saint Catherine's and Together For Short Lives. He's so far raised £1250 from This Is The Coast listeners, friends and colleagues at Des Winks who organised a charity football match to boost donations.
And as he told Paddy, he's already got his sights set on an even bigger challenge in 2022:
Joining Alan on Sunday will be This Is The Coast's Paddy. And whilst Alan's a keen cyclist, Paddy is less so but they have enjoyed training rides in the last few months including their longest: 76 miles. Also joining them is Henry Digby who will be offering technical support along the route. Alan gave Paddy this advice ahead of Sunday:
To sponsor Alan, visit his fundraising page here. All money will be split between Saint Catherine's and Together For Short Lives.
Listen out for updates from the pair on This Is The Coast throughout Sunday!
