The A64 has reopened after an earlier closure in both directions between Claxton Hall and Flaxton Moor
North Yorkshire Police say the closure was to allow accident investigation work to take place following a road traffic collision.
There was a diversion in place via Claxton.
National Highways said:
"The A64 in North Yorkshire is closed in both directions between the B1248 (near Malton) and the A1237 (near York) due to a serious collision involving 2 vehicles.
Emergency services including North Yorkshire Police and Yorkshire Ambulance service are in attendance. Collision investigation works are ongoing at scene, and the road is expected to remain closed throughout the morning rush hour.
Traffic is being diverted via local routes."
