Audiences are invited to enjoy an uplifting and heart-warming evening of music as acclaimed soprano Nicola Mills returns to the Kirk Theatre on Sunday 15 February with her much loved show A Spoonful of Julie.
Following the success of her award winning concert Opera for the People at the Kirk Theatre last summer Nicola returns by popular demand to present a joyful celebration of one of the most treasured performers of stage and screen Julie Andrews.
A Spoonful of Julie is a charming and carefully crafted tribute that brings together some of the most iconic songs ever written for musical theatre and film. Featuring unforgettable music from Mary Poppins The Sound of Music and other highlights from Julie Andrews extraordinary career the show combines glorious melodies with engaging storytelling that traces her journey from child prodigy to international star. The result is an evening that is nostalgic uplifting and full of warmth appealing to audiences of all ages.
The show was co created with Stuart Barham former musical director of Cats and is performed by Nicola Mills alongside accomplished pianist Maria King. Together they bring fresh energy and sincerity to these timeless songs while offering fascinating insights into the life and legacy of Julie Andrews. From joyful singalong moments to more reflective passages the production captures both the fun and the enduring influence of Andrews work.

Nicola Mills trained at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama and enjoyed a ten year international opera career performing with leading companies including Glyndebourne Festival Opera Dutch National Opera and Opera Monte Carlo. She is also the founder of Opera for the People an award winning initiative dedicated to making classical music accessible to wider audiences through engaging and informal performances.
Her return to the Kirk Theatre follows the hugely positive response to Opera for the People last summer which was praised for its warmth accessibility and musical excellence. With A Spoonful of Julie Nicola once again brings her powerful soprano voice infectious charm and love of storytelling to the Kirk stage.
