People with a passion for how schools work and who want to make a positive difference to children’s lives are being sought by a Scarborough based multi-academy trust.
Coast and Vale Learning Trust, which runs Scalby School, Lady Lumley’s in Pickering, Newby and Scalby Primary and Friarage Primary, are on the look-out for new school governors as well as for new trustees and members. All roles are voluntary.
Chief executive of the trust, Brian Crosby said:
“We’re looking for people interested in schools who are keen to find new and creative solutions to recurring issues and who can apply their own skills and life experience to contribute to the debate. It’s a challenge that’s both satisfying and rewarding,”
“We’re particularly looking for people who enjoy getting involved in strategic discussions at board level. Experience in finance, health and safety, HR, compliance and legal matters would be useful but we’re also looking for enthusiasm. This could be to enhance people’s CVs or, for people who are retired, as a stimulating way to give something back to society,”
“School governors work for the good of individual schools, whereas trustees have more of a strategic overview of all schools in the trust. Members have a more considered role, ensuring trustees are fulfilling their responsibilities – we have vacancies in all areas.”
Becoming a school governor means joining the biggest group of volunteers in the country.
People who want to know more are invited to email ea@coastandvale.academy or call Cindy Brooke for an informal chat on 07862 020688 or go to the website https://www.coastandvale.academy/about-our-trust/be-a-governor-trustee-or-member/
