Firefighters serving the Yorkshire Coast experienced a busy weekend, attending a range of incidents across the area and rescuing two trapped shoppers.

Out near Whitby, crews investigated a report of a campfire started next to moorland but found no fire upon arrival. A crew from Filey also investigated smoke sighted in Primrose Valley on Friday night, which was determined to be attended controlled burning.
During the day shift on Saturday, crews in Scarborough responded to a report of a fire outside a residential property. Firefighters extinguished the fire using two hose reels. The incident resulted in damage to an item outside the property and smoke damage to the living room inside, following fire spread. Occupiers were out of the property when fire crews arrived, and no injuries were reported. Police also attended this incident.
On Saturday evening firefighters in Whitby responded to reports of a car on fire in a residential area. The car was reported as well alight and believed to have suffered a mechanical fault. Crews extinguished the fire, checked for hotspots, and dampened down the area using two breathing apparatus sets, a hose reel jet, and a thermal imaging camera.
Also on Saturday night, crews from Scarborough and Filey responded to a report of a caravan on fire.
