A drug dealer who boasted about living like a "rock star" has been sentenced to 34 months in prison for supplying Class A drugs in Scarborough.
A drug dealer who claimed to have a life “like a rock star” is now living behind bars instead.
Nathan Stone, 32, sent texts boasting about his lavish lifestyle while he stayed in rented holiday houses and luxury hotels in Scarborough.
But today, he is starting a 34-month jail sentence, after he was convicted of supplying Class A drugs in the town.
On 4 June 2026, Stone was pulled over by police officers on patrol in King Street, after he was spotted behaving suspiciously.
As his car was searched, he tried to run away – but officers set off in hot pursuit and quickly caught up with him:
Stone then attempted to snap his phone in half. When challenged in interview, he stated that he had panicked, but that there would not be any evidence of drug dealing on the phone.
However, police analysis of the damaged device found messages between Stone and dozens of other people, discussing the supply of Class A drugs. The most recent messages had been sent moments before he was arrested.
There were also messages from Stone describing staying in five-star self-catering flats, and living life “like a rock star”. By contrast, in police interview, Stone stated he had previously worked as a brick layer, but had been unemployed for at least three months.
In the car, officers found weighing scales and a bottle with a blue plastic bag containing white powder inside.
Stone, from Scarborough, was charged with possession with intent to supply Class A drugs. Faced with the evidence, he pleaded guilty on 6 July at York Crown Court.
Today, 2 September, at the same court, he was sentenced to 34 months' imprisonment.
DC Alfie Thomlinson, of Scarborough CID, arrested Stone, and oversaw the case against him. After the sentencing hearing, he said:
“Nathan Stone thought he could exploit others for his own ill-gotten gain, making a significant amount of money from selling cocaine.
“This case is an example of what proactive officers out on the beat patrolling can achieve by stopping, searching – even chasing down and arresting – those involved in the supply of drugs.
“Stone paid no heed to the misery that illegal drugs cause in our communities. Those like him should know that detectives at North Yorkshire Police will relentlessly investigate and disrupt their selfish crimes.”
