Alice Connolly is 23 and is running, walking and hiking around the whole coastline of Britain for two different charities.
She's running for the British Heart Foundation in memory of her father, who died suddenly when she was just 18.
Alice is also running for MIND.
She spoke to Paddy At Breakfast from Hunmanby, where a local has put her up for the night:
Tonight, Alice will be staying in Bridlington and is looking for somewhere to put her tent, or even a spare room.
Her fundraising page explains the reason for her journey:
My motivation for this is to mark the end of the last 5 years of my life. When I was 18 years old and fresh into a degree programme, my dad suddenly died from what we thought was a non-dangerous heart condition and I struggled immensely thereafter. His passing was so hard on my whole family, he was such a loving, sunny and quirky person! I lost the motivation for my studies, fell into quite a depression and developed a chronic case of insomnia to top it all off. Life was just stagnant because I didn't know how to help myself but I also didn't want to burden others with my problems, especially my mum and siblings since they were going through the same grief I was. I was stuck with blind determination to either get graduated or get eventually kicked out of university so that I could move on from what happened and end that chapter of my life. Finally, I got my degree and I wanted to kickstart my life again! Despite the primary selfish motivations of personal growth and self actualisation after a traumatic period, I want to do some greater good with it too. Hence why I would like to raise money for the two charities which are closest to my heart: the British Heart Foundation and Mind.
