A twenty-six-year-old woman died in a two-vehicle collision on the A170 near Pickering.
Five other individuals required hospital treatment following the crash, which took place between Wrelton and Pickering in the early hours of the morning.
The fatal collision occurred at approximately 1.30am and involved a white Volkswagen Polo, which was travelling away from Pickering, and a black Audi A4, which was travelling towards the town.
The driver of the Volkswagen Polo, a twenty-six-year-old woman, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash.
Specially trained police officers are currently providing support to her family, who have been informed of the tragic news.
Five occupants were travelling inside the black Audi A4 when the collision occurred. All five individuals were taken to hospital to receive treatment for injuries of varying severity. Medical staff do not believe any of the injuries to be life-threatening at this stage.
