Police are investigating the circumstances of a woman’s death in Scarborough.
Officers were called at around 5.25pm on Monday 9 May when a member of the public saw a woman on the fourth-storey ledge of a property in Albemarle Crescent.
A short time later, the woman, who was aged in her 40s, was seen to fall from the ledge and sadly sustained fatal injuries.
The investigation is in the early stages and police are working to establish the exact circumstances that led to her death.
A man has been arrested as part of the investigation and remains in police custody for questioning.
At the time of the incident, the road was closed to allow emergency service to attend the incident. It reopened at around 9.15pm.
The road was then also temporarily closed again this lunchtime (Tuesday 10 May 2022) to allow investigation work to continue.

A short time later officers were called to a second incident on Foreshore Road.
Scarborough Police say they responded at 7.50pm last night (Monday 09 May 2022) to reports that a person had fallen from a building on Foreshore Road in Scarborough.
They attended the scene along with the ambulance service. A woman was taken to hospital with serious but not life-threatening injuries and remains in a stable condition.
