The new cricket season started for Scarborough, Bridlington and Folkton & Flixton, on Saturday.
Scarborough eased to victory at North Marine Road over Beverley Town in Yorkshire Premier North.
Breidyn Schaper, more renowned for his batting, took 6 for 38 as the visitors struggled to 177 all out before being bowled out from the penultimate ball of their 50 over innings.
Schaper then struck 49 with the bat and Romario Roach guided the hosts home with an unbeaten 52.
Brid sadly lost their first match in the new YPN Championship.
Hosts Malton & Old Malton put on a 185 for the first wicket as they won the toss and chose to bat.
Despite Casey Rudd's 5 for 60, the home side amassed 298/9 from their 50 overs.
In reply, Brid struggled to 157 all out as they were skittled inside 30 overs, losing by 141 runs. Matthew Fudge top-scored with 34.
It was better news for Folkton & Flixton, in the same division.
The villagers reduced hosts Whitkirk to 172 all out in 45 overs. Charlie Colley took 4 for 48 with two wickets each for Connor Stephenson and Elliot Hatton.
The away side then romped home with Hatton hitting 58 and Harry Walmsley finished unbeaten on 63. Their eight victory was achieved with more than 17 overs remaining.
Whitby suffered another defeat in week two of the North Yorkshire South Durham Division One season. Fielding first, Kai Morris' men limited visitors Darlington RA to 257/8 at the Turnbull Ground. The experienced Steve Allen took 4 for 65 with Tom Steyert picking up two wickets.
Unfortunately the home batting struggled as they were bowled out for just 77, inside 23 overs. Only two players, Mark Jackson and Ricky Hall made double figures in the 180-run defeat.
