Appeal After Man Is Sexually Assaulted And Robbed In Scarborough

Police are appealing for witnesses after a man in his fifties was drugged, sexually assaulted, and robbed of his belongings in a Scarborough bus shelter.

A man in his fifties was sexually assaulted and robbed after losing consciousness in a Scarborough bus shelter.

Detectives are appealing for witnesses following the disturbing incident, which occurred under Spa Bridge.

The victim was approached by a female suspect who struck up a conversation with him and offered him a beverage. After reluctantly accepting the drink, the man lost consciousness.

During this time, he was subjected to a sexual assault. The victim also had cash and personal belongings stolen from him, which included some artwork he was carrying at the time.

Officers investigating the crime state that the exact date of the attack remains unknown, other than it taking place sometime between Monday, August 10th and Wednesday, August 26th.

The suspect is described by investigators as a woman in her thirties wearing heavy makeup and sporting red streaks in her hair. At the time of the incident, she was dressed in a long, black skirt alongside a black top featuring white markings on the sleeves.

Following the ordeal, it is believed that a concerned member of the public approached the victim while he was sitting in the bus shelter to ask if he was okay.

A spokesperson for North Yorkshire Police said:

"We are appealing for that person to come forward along with anyone else who may have come to the assistance of a man who may have appeared disorientated. We're also appealing to anyone who may have found a discarded wallet or artwork consisting of black and white pencil-drawn landscape scenes to get in touch."

Anyone with information that could assist the investigation is asked to contact the force online or email Laurie Simpson directly at laurie.simpson1@northyorkshirepolice.uk.

Those unable to use the digital options are encouraged to call North Yorkshire Police on 101, quoting the reference number 12260166702 when providing information.
