The Seasiders were due to welcome Ashton United to the Towbar Express Stadium on Saturday.
However, Town have had to postpone the clash due to a waterlogged pitch following rain in recent days.
A club statement issued this morning read:
Following Tuesday night’s match with Guiseley, several people have been working extremely hard on the pitch to give today’s game the best possible chance of going ahead - however, due to weather conditions through the night, the pitch was deemed unplayable by the inspecting referee.
Due to a suspected collapsed drain under the pitch at the Metropole end of the ground, large areas of the surface are currently holding more water than usual, making them soft and boggy, rendering the area unplayable.
While there is good news in that we seem to have located the issue that has now seen the Marske United and Ashton United fixtures postponed, the bad news is that it is a job that can’t be solved until the end of the season, with it requiring areas of the pitch to be taken up for the drainage to be replaced.
For the time being the club will continue to look at short-term solutions to ensure minimal disruption to our home fixture schedule going forward. The club is extremely disappointed to lose another weekend home fixture, with the last taking place on November 26 against Atherton Collieries.
We look forward to welcoming supporters back to the Towbar Express Stadium at the Turnbull Ground on Saturday, January 28, when Nantwich Town are our visitors.
