Whitby Town Football Club has announced that several players, including Layton Watts, will be leaving the Towbar Express Stadium this summer following the conclusion of the 2025/26 season.
Whitby Town Football Club has confirmed a number of upcoming squad changes following the conclusion of the 2025/26 football season.
The club has announced that several players will depart the Towbar Express Stadium this summer, with Sam Collins, Aaron Haswell, Nathan McGinley, Jarrett Rivers, and Connor Smith all moving on at the end of the current campaign.
A spokesperson for Whitby Town Football Club said:
"Each player has made a valued contribution during their time at the Towbar Express Stadium, playing their part both on and off the pitch as part of the wider squad. Their professionalism, commitment, and dedication have been greatly appreciated by staff, teammates, and supporters alike."
The club extended its sincere thanks to Sam, Aaron, Nathan, Jarrett, and Connor for their efforts during their time at Whitby Town, and wished them every success for the future.
In addition to these five departures, the club has confirmed that Layton Watts has informed Whitby Town of his desire to leave this summer in order to explore new opportunities.
Whitby Town stated that while they are naturally disappointed by the news, they respect his openness in communicating his intentions at an early stage. The club noted that this early communication allows all parties to plan accordingly for the future.
A representative for the club said:
"Since joining Whitby Town, Layton has been an important member of the squad, contributing consistently with his performances and professionalism. He has earned the respect of teammates, staff, and supporters, and his impact during his time at the club has been significant."
Discussions between Whitby Town and Layton Watts are set to continue in the coming weeks to determine the next steps for both the player and the team.
The club added:
