The Blues play at the Towbar Express Stadium, three months on from their dramatic last-gasp draw with Cleethorpes to avoid relegation.
Lee Bullock's men host Pickering Town in a pre-season outing on Saturday.
Bullock told Whitby Town TV he's happy to be back at home after a loss on Tuesday playing on a challenging surface at West Auckland:
"And then going into Saturday, like I say, I can't wait to go and play on our pitch. It's that, no disrespect, but that's a tough pitch. Same for both teams. But if we're having them issues on our pitch Saturday, then something is slightly wrong because our pitch at the minute looks lovely. Obviously football loves to whack you in the face when you think you're doing all right, but it's just a reality check. We know we're nowhere near the finished article. We're miles and miles from that. They've had three tough away games on surfaces that are not as good as ours. Our pitch at the minute it looks unbelievable. So they'll be looking forward to getting out of there and that, but I'm not giving them excuses. I expect a better performance Saturday."
The Blues lost 3-0 in County Durham in midweek, their first loss of pre-season, after a 2-2 draw at Bridlington Town and thumping Marske United 5-0.
Kick-off at the Towbar Express Stadium is 3pm.
