Whitby residents are being encouraged to get out on the water to help their mental health.
The Fishermen's Amateur Rowing Club are holding an event next weekend to attract new members.
Club Captain Mark Harland says rowing is not just about the sport but is also a social activity and good for both physical and mental health.
The club are hoping to add new members ahead of the summer season.
On Sunday 20th March at 1pm the club will be holding an open day. Mark says:
"Children from the age of 11 and all adults are welcome to come along and see what rowing is all about.
We would also like to offer people the opportunity to get in a boat and give rowing a go before we start the new season on Monday 4th April.
You can come along as a crew of 4 or as an individual and our current rowers will available to support.
We also have changing facilities available if you need to use them and you are more than welcome to join us in our club bar afterwards. "
Mark Harland says the summer is a great time to be part of the local rowing community.
More information about the event is available on the clubs Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/events/488968532698358
