Engineers are working to repair a suspected fractured underground pipe at the Bridlington paddling pool, with hopes of reopening the facility in time for the Easter holidays.
Families and visitors hoping to enjoy the paddling pool in Bridlington may have to wait a little longer, as the facility is currently undergoing maintenance to address a suspected underground leak.
Coastal Services East Yorkshire has confirmed that the popular seafront attraction is currently out of action and awaiting parts to fix a plumbing issue.
Engineers have recently visited the site to assess the situation after it was noted that the pool was not in its usual condition.
A spokesperson for Coastal Services East Yorkshire said:
"You may have noticed that the paddling pool in Bridlington is not looking its best right now. Engineers have been on site and suspect there is a fracture in one of the underground pipes that forms part of the circulatory system."
To get the pool operational again as swiftly as possible, the maintenance team is looking at implementing a temporary fix to bypass the damaged section of the system.
The spokesperson added:
"The engineers are hoping to divert the pipework in the short term and are waiting for parts."
While this short-term solution is being prepared, officials have acknowledged that a more significant repair and groundworks will be required in the future to fully resolve the issue.
Coastal Services East Yorkshire explained:
"In the longer term, it will mean excavating the pipework which we are hoping won't be necessary until the end of the season."
The organisation is now working to secure the necessary components to complete the temporary diversion of the water supply.
They concluded with an update on the expected reopening timeline for the attraction:
"We hope to have the pool up and running as soon as possible, hopefully in time for Easter."
