Whitby lost a low-scoring clash at Sedgefield on the opening day of the North Yorkshire South Durham cricket season.
Saturday saw a new-look Whitby, without star all-rounder Fin Morris or bowler Corey Hart, lose out at County Durham side Sedgefield.
Morris has joined Premier Division Stokesley with Hart returning to former club Saltburn. Joe Padmore shone with a superb 61, but only spinner Mark Jackson batting at number eight stuck around with 12, to assist him, the rest of the side failing to reach double figures.
Padmore's innings at least gave the bowlers 121 to defend and they quickly put the home side under pressure at 42 for 4. Ricky Hall weighed in with three wickets. Another experienced seamer, Steve Allen, took 2 for 18 from his six overs, but Sedgefield got home with four wickets and 16 overs to spare.
