Walking Buses could be the answer to safety concerns on a section of Whitby's cinder track.
North Yorkshire Council says the section from Stainsacre to Caedmon College does meet national guidelines for safe school walking routes.
But some parents have expressed concerns over the suitability of the route.
Local Councillor - Neil Swannick - says walking buses might be a way forwards.
Councillors on the Scarborough and Whitby area committee have suggested exploring the idea of creating a walking bus scheme.
North Yorkshire Council's Head of Service for Strategic Planning - Jon Holden - says the walking bus idea would align with other transport initiatives.
Councillors on the Scarborough and Whitby Area Committee have called on the authority to make improvements to the route and have recommended the introduction of street lighting, a walking bus, and better pedestrian crossings at school walking routes in Whitby.
