Video doorbells have been given to residents in some areas that have experienced high rates of burglary.
Burglary rates in North Yorkshire have seen a significant fall in the latest data from North Yorkshire Police.
Deputy Chief Constable - Scott Bisset - says they are seeing improving figures after a difficult few months.

The force attributes this positive trend to a dedicated focus on apprehending offenders, increasing charges brought against them, and prioritizing crime prevention strategies. This includes providing Ring doorbells to residents in some areas that have experienced high rates of burglary.
Deputy Mayor for Policing, Fire and Crime in York and North Yorkshire - Jo Coles - says the doorbells have helped.
The Police have emphasised the vital role evidence plays in securing convictions and achieving positive outcomes in burglary investigations. They say that Video doorbells are seen as a valuable tool in this effort, as they can capture crucial footage that can help identify and track offenders.
North Yorkshire Police says it is also actively working to raise awareness about the benefits of video doorbells and other security measures. They have launched campaigns to encourage residents to:
- Install Video doorbells or similar devices.
- Regularly check their footage.
- Report any suspicious activity to the police.
Beyond the use of technology, the force has implemented a robust approach to tackle burglaries, including:
- Targeted patrols in high-crime areas.
- Increased collaboration with neighbouring forces to address cross-border offending.
- Working closely with the National Rural Crime Unit to share intelligence and implement best practices.
North Yorkshire police say they recognise that burglaries can have a significant impact on victims and the wider community, and they are committed to continuing their efforts to drive down these offences and ensure residents feel safe and secure in their homes
