Three playgrounds in Filey look set to get major overhauls.
The town's master-plan includes proposals for upgrades to the play areas in Glenn Gardens, Copse Hill and at the Country Park.
The Borough Council's Community regeneration manager - Matthew Jospehs - explains where the money is coming from.
The town's playgrounds were identified as a key area of concern for local residents during a consultation exercise which elicited over 400 responses.
A report presented to the Borough Council's Cabinet this week said:
"Work undertaken through the preliminary round of engagement clearly identified a need within Filey for updated fit for purpose play equipment for young people in the Town. The welcome addition of the new skate park will contribute towards the offering for young people but it is acknowledged that the town’s three key play areas require work not only to improve the ageing equipment but also to improve the prevalent site conditions. For this reason, the Council is undergoing a tendering process to secure the refurbishment of the play areas situate at Filey Country Park, Glen Gardens and Copse Hill."
At Glenn gardens five items of play equipment would be replaced and two refurbished.
Matthew Jospehs says there would also be upgrades at Copse Hill and the Country Park.
The council is now seeking tenders for the work which could start in the Autumn.
