Whitby Town, Scarborough Athletic and Bridlington were all in action on Saturday with two of our teams enjoying victories.
Whitby Town pulled off a 3-2 win at NPL Premier leaders Matlock Town to stay sixth in the league, on Saturday.
Local lad Soni Fergus scored in the opening 3 minutes on his full debut and former Middlesbrough marksman Brad Fewster made it two, midway through the first half.
The Derbyshire side levelled before half-time, but Priestley Griffiths netted his first league goal for the Blues to regain their two-goal cushion. The Gladiators pulled a second goal back, nine minutes from time, but Town clung on for the result of the season. A great way to bounce back from Tuesday's 3-0 loss at Bamber Bridge.
Scarborough Athletic also recovered from losing their last game with a 2-0 win over Lancaster City- both sides finished with ten men. Boro were dumped out of the FA Trophy 4-0 at the top side in the division below, Liversedge, last week. Manager Jono Greening promised changes but it was his old reliable striker Nathan Cartman who opened the scoring in the first half.
Centre-half Bailey Gooda then notched the winner after the interval. By now City were down to ten men after a sending off early in the second half. However, the Seadogs' Kieran Weledji was also dismissed, late on, but Boro held on at the Flamingo Land Stadium.
Elsewhere, Bridlington Town went down to a 4-2 defeat at Worksop Town to stay third from bottom in NPL East.
Brett Agnew's men levelled through Andy Norfolk's 15th-minute penalty after going behind early on. However, a first-half blitz saw them trailing 4-1 in Nottinghamshire at the break. Danny Earl's strike early in the second half proved a mere consolation.
Brid remain third from bottom with only Pontefract and Pickering keeping them off the bottom.
