A man and a woman have been released on bail after police officers intercepted a vehicle suspected of involvement in criminality in Bridlington town centre.
A swift response from local officers on the Yorkshire Coast has led to the arrest of two individuals following a targeted vehicle stop in Bridlington.
According to police reports, the Bridlington Patrol team was alerted to a vehicle in the town centre on Thursday, 19 March 2026, following community tip-offs regarding suspected criminal activity. Officers quickly located the vehicle and detained its occupants to conduct a search under Section 23 of the Misuse of Drugs Act.
During the search, authorities uncovered what is believed to be a quantity of class A drugs inside the car. Officers confirmed that the driver, a 32-year-old woman, and her passenger, a 38-year-old man, were promptly arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply class A drugs.
Police have also stated that a roadside drugs swipe was administered at the scene, resulting in the woman facing an additional arrest on suspicion of driving whilst under the influence of drugs.
Both suspects were taken in for questioning and have since been released on bail. Detectives from Bridlington's Criminal Investigation Department are currently continuing extensive enquiries into the matter.
In a statement addressing the incident, a spokesperson for the police highlighted the vital role that local Yorkshire Coast residents play in tackling crime:
