North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue dealt with a car fire near Hackness on Saturday evening.
Firefighters from Acomb, who were on standby in the area responded to reports of a car fire around 6.45pm.
The owner had used a dry powder extinguisher prior to the officers' arrival.
They used one hose reel jet and a thermal imaging camera to ensure the fire was extinguished.
The cause is believed to have been a blown turbo.
