Motorists and public transport users will face a five-day daytime road closure on the A174 at Lythe Bank, with a replacement shuttle bus maintaining links to Whitby.
Motorists and public transport users will face five days of disruption as the A174 Lythe Bank shuts for roadworks.
The route will be closed to traffic between 7:30am and 4pm each day, starting today, Monday 26 October.
A statement from North Yorkshire Council said:
"This closure is to allow us to carry out annual maintenance."
Bus passengers who rely on the X4 route will be provided with a replacement shuttle service for the duration of the works to ensure residents can continue to travel.
The temporary service will call at existing bus stops in Lythe and along the A174, ensuring connections are maintained for Goldsborough Lane End as well as East and West Barnby Road End.
North Yorkshire Council, which provides services across Yorkshire Coast towns including Scarborough, Whitby, and Pickering, confirmed the replacement transport features two distinct routes running from Whitby Bus Station.
Passengers travelling on the replacement route from Whitby to Sandsend will have access to services departing the bus station at 7:34am, 9:34am, 11:34am, 1:34pm, and 3:34pm.
These buses will arrive at Sandsend Dunsley Lane End at 7:45am, 9:45am, 11:45am, 1:45pm, and 3:45pm.
Following a brief stop, the return journeys will depart Sandsend Dunsley Lane End at 7:47am, 9:47am, 11:47am, 1:47pm, and 3:47pm, arriving back at Whitby Bus Station at 7:58am, 9:58am, 11:58am, 1:58pm, and 3:58pm.
A separate shuttle running between Whitby and Lythe will leave the bus station at 8:04am, 10:04am, 12:04pm, and 2:04pm.
This route will serve passengers at Lythe The Stiddy at 8:27am, 10:27am, 12:27pm, and 2:27pm.
It will then call at the stop adjacent to Lodge Road at 8:30am, 10:30am, 12:30pm, and 2:30pm, before heading back to Whitby Bus Station for arrival at 8:57am, 10:57am, 12:57pm, and 2:57pm.
The timetables will run on a Monday to Saturday basis while the road remains closed for the essential daytime maintenance.
