Police say not everyone welcomes trick or treaters to their homes on Halloween so you can download and print a poster to make this clear to anyone trick or treating.
In a statement, North Yorkshire Police said, ahead of Friday:
'If you don't have access to a printer, you can also visit your local police station, and our team will be happy to print a poster for you.
'We'll have high-visibility patrols in place in across the area and officers will move on anyone causing anti-social behaviour or intimidating members of the public.
'Whilst it is usually just a small minority of people who spoil celebrations with pranks that cause criminal damage or intimidation, incidents of anti-social behaviour won’t be tolerated.
'We’re also expecting an increase in demand on our phone lines, and we would ask you to help us and only call 999 in a genuine emergency.
'If you would like to discourage trick-or-treaters from coming to your home, or the home of a loved one or vulnerable neighbour, you can download and print the poster below to display in your windows or front door.'
