The Rainbow Ball Raises Nearly £20,000 for Scarborough Charity

The Rainbow Centre's annual charity ball has successfully raised £19,250 to support vulnerable members of the local community.

Every penny raised is earmarked to continue the organisation's vital work supporting vulnerable individuals within the local community.

Representatives from The Rainbow Centre expressed their deep gratitude to everyone who attended, donated, sponsored, and volunteered to make the evening a resounding success:

"This is a phenomenal amount, and every penny will go a long way in helping us continue the work we do within our community—supporting those who need it most. To everyone who attended, donated, sponsored, volunteered, or supported us in any way, thank you. Your generosity and kindness makes a real difference, and together we're helping to change lives."

The prestigious evening was hosted at Scarborough Spa, with the charity extending a very special thank you to the venue for once again acting as fantastic hosts for the occasion.

The event was hosted by This Is The Coast's Paddy Billington, alongside Nicky Priestley, who supported the event on the night by selling raffle tickets. Both Paddy & Nicky are doing a 'Rainbow Of Challenges' for The Rainbow Centre, with their next challenge their biggest yet; 100 miles on foot in Scotland in 48 hours!

Guests at The Rainbow Ball were treated to live entertainment, with the Funky Tuesday Choir delivering what was described as an incredible performance, while John at Wandering Photography was on hand to capture the memories of the night.

The substantial fundraising total was significantly boosted by a wide array of businesses and organisations from along the Yorkshire Coast and the wider region, who generously donated an assortment of raffle prizes and auction items.

Donations poured in from notable local tourist attractions, including Flamingo Land Resort, the North Yorkshire Moors Railway, Sneaton Castle in Whitby, and the Rotary Museum. Further contributions were gratefully received from historic venues such as Burton Agnes Hall and Sewerby Hall and Gardens, alongside the Spirit of Yorkshire Distillery and Wold Top Brewery.

The sports, leisure, and hospitality sectors also demonstrated strong support for the cause. Contributions were made by Scarborough Athletic FC, Whitby Marina, North Yorkshire Water Park, Forestry England Dalby Forest, and Bike & Boot Inns. Additional prizes came from Ripon Races, Redcar Races, Barnsley FC, The Royal Hotel Scarborough, Grand Villa Heights, and Saltmoore.

Further auction and raffle items were generously provided by Philip Anthony Photography, Beverley Breakout Escape Rooms, Black Widow Ghost Tours, Bird of Prey York, SikSilk, Cooplands Bakers, Record Revivals, JORVIK Viking Centre, and Dynamic Radio.

The charity also acknowledged the personal contributions of individuals who donated items, including Olivia Mullighan, Hannah East, Joe Fishburn, Louise Pollard, Nancy Tilley, and Nicholas and Venetia Wrigley.

Organisations and individuals who purchased tickets to support the event included Art Therapy Yorkshire, Boyes, Des Winks Volkswagen and Skoda, First Locate, Homemore, Scarborough Building Plastics, Scarborough Pride, Whey 2 Go, Victoria Wright, Sewerby Hall and Gardens, and Mainprize Offshore Ltd.

Reflecting on the immense collaborative effort that made the fundraising total possible, The Rainbow Centre said:

"The number of people and organisations who came together to support this event is a true reflection of the strength, generosity and spirit of our community. From all of us, thank you for believing in what we do and for helping us continue to support those who need us most. We couldn't do it without you."

The Rainbow Centre have also raised over £500 from concert-goers at Scarborough Open Air Theatre's Deacon Blue & Lightning Seeds concert over the weekend.
