A mental health charity has launched a project in Scarborough to help more people get active in a bid to improve their mood.
Scarborough, Whitby and Ryedale's Mind Get Active Connector is being put in place to show people the benefits of physical activity on our mental wellbeing.
Hayley Doubtfire is the Get Active Connector Lead and says that the project is open to anyone in the local area.
The project is funded as part of Mind's charity partnership with sports brand ASICS and builds on the charity's previous work to break down the barriers preventing people with mental health problems from being active.
Doubtfire says that taking parting in physical activities has many health and social benefits.
Scarborough, Whitby & Ryedale Mind will be running a number of taster sessions over the coming months, where you can try out different activities. They are also planning on running longer term programmes including chair aerobics, walking and geocaching.
