The Seadogs stay sixth but are level on points with fifth-placed Radcliffe in National North.
Boro beat Chester with one of their best performances of the season.
Will Baines described the best of the action on This Is The Coast Extra:
Kieran Weledji was the hero, with the winning goal, three minutes into the second half.
The impressive Ryan Whitley made a string of saves throughout the match, starting in the 9th minute.
Steven Walker came close at the other end with Richie Bennett and much of the 772 crowd screaming for a penalty for a handball which wasn't given.
Jack Waldron and Michael Duckworth traded goalmouth blocks before Bennett beat the goalkeeper and Weledji squeezed home point-blank.
Whitley denied the visitors again before Dom Tear almost turned in Lewis Maloney's wicked cross.
Jake Hull defended well before Whitley again dug deep to block.
Whitley completed another ace save before Harry Green almost added a second but Weledji's strike proved enough to seal a Boro win.
